Procedure

Combine the water, disodium EDTA and Pemulen TR-1 and mix with high speed propeller agitation while heating to 80°C. When Pemulen is dispersed add remaining phase A ingredients, continue mixing and heating. In a side kettle, combine phase B ingredients and heat to 80°C. Mix until uniform. Slowly add phase B to phase A and mix with medium propeller agitation for 15 minutes until emulsification is complete. Slowly add phase C to main vessel continue mixing, start cooling. Cool batch to 55°C with mixing and slowly add phase D then phase E. Begin cooling batch further with mixing. Add phase F while mixing. Shutdown when batch reaches 32°C.

Properties

pH—6.74; Viscosity—T-F Helipath @ 3rpm=85,000 cps± 10%; Stability—1 month at 50°C.
